I don't think an introduction guideline is really needed cause what you are doing if you follow this guideline is just posting what is there in your profile already.. Newcomers should just tell stuff about themselves and not go like, 'Hi there. I am new' without giving any info, you get me? no?

bloora has a point, and i think newbies dont even see the intro guideline...

To avoid post like 'Hi there. I am new' without giving any info, that's why we put up and intro guideline for those who don't know how to make a basic proper intro. Of course people can tell more about themselves than just what are in the guideline nor profile.

You can make your intro topic like your 'About me' page.
